Hello my dear readers, I hope you are well, today I come to talk about a person whom I admire in the field of Social Work, she is: 

Laura Jane Addams was born on September 6, 1860 in Cerdaville, Illinois, United States and died on May 21, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, United States, her life took place in the context of profound economic, demographic and cultural transformations, generated by the American Industrial Revolution and the growing conversion of the country to the market economy. She was an important leader in the history of Social Work and in the suffragette movement in the United States and advocated for world peace.

She was instrumental in the founding of the profession (social work) in the United States and in the founding of the Hull House, which was one of the first foster homes where they did social benefits which helped advance social reforms and was an active participant in many charitable organizations.

I admire this person because she was the founder of social work in the United States, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, she was named honorary president of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and because her social ideology aims at the construction of a state of peace. Her social ideology aims at the construction of an ethical and democratic welfare state, in addition to the development of numerous aid programs for the most vulnerable.
